About

Charles and Nancy Cranford are a dedicated couple serving in Lilongwe, Malawi. Charles, originally from Nashville, pursued his passion for English and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Nancy, hailing from Knoxville, also attended the University of Tennessee, majoring in Nutrition. Their paths converged when they met through a small group at Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville in 2015, and they tied the knot in August 2016.

The newlyweds spent their first year of marriage in Belize, Central America, where Charles had been committed to service since his teenage years. Following their time in Belize, they returned to Nashville. Charles taught middle school for four years, and Nancy worked as a pediatric clinical dietitian before transitioning into academia.

Since 2017, Charles and Nancy have sought God's guidance for future mission opportunities. In late 2020, they were led to ABC, and their hearts were captivated by the prospect of serving in Malawi. They wasted no time and promptly applied and accepted an offer to join the ABC team.

Charles' role in Malawi involves working at ABC Christian Academy, focusing on English, History, and Bible classes at the upper school level. He also teaches Christian Education at the Bible College. Nancy teaches Science and Health at ABC Christian Academy. Additionally, both Charles and Nancy engage in extracurricular activities such as leading After School Clubs and coaching sports like soccer and volleyball.

The Cranfords embody Matthew 28:16-20, perceiving the Great Commission as an unfinished work. They recognize God's heart for the nations, as expressed in Romans 10:14-15, emphasizing the importance of preaching and making Him known. Their passion aligns with ABC's vision, which aims to raise up changemakers to serve Africa through Christian education, radio and TV ministries, healthcare, and various other avenues.

ABC focuses on empowering African leaders who possess a deep understanding of their communities. These leaders can effectively address their physical and spiritual needs. The Cranfords strongly believe in the significance of local leadership and their ability to create impactful change.

You Can Make a Difference

Participating in the Great Commission can take various forms, with both going and sending being equally vital. While not everyone is called to relocate overseas, everyone can contribute to the global work of God. We invite you to join us in serving the students of African Bible Colleges and ABC Christian Academy.

Here are ways you can get involved:

  • Pray: Commit to regular prayer for us, the ministries of African Bible Colleges, and the people of Lilongwe, Malawi. As we serve in Malawi, we will keep you updated with specific prayer requests. For now, please pray for:

    • The people of Malawi, who have endured the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    • The students of ABC Christian Academy and Bible College, navigating their educational journeys in difficult times.

    • Our transition as we bid farewell to loved ones, prepare to relocate and establish our lives in Malawi.

    • Our families, who support our decision but make a sacrifice in sending us overseas.

    • Our ability to raise the necessary financial support.

  • Partner: To serve as staff at ABC, we rely on raising our salaries and living expenses. This allows the ministry to allocate resources for other critical areas and maintain affordable costs for students and families. Our total monthly requirement is $4,200, which can be achieved through recurring monthly donations and one-time gifts. If you have unique talents or resources to share, we welcome your contribution.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our journey and considering how you can join us. Your involvement can make a significant impact as we unite with God's ongoing work in Malawi!
